Leegivahtude

Leegivahtude is a fire suppression agent commonly used to extinguish flammable liquid fires. It works by forming a foam blanket that separates the fuel from oxygen, effectively smothering the flames and preventing reignition. This type of fire extinguishing medium is particularly effective against class B fires involving flammable liquids such as gasoline, oil, and solvents.

The foam typically consists of water, foam concentrate, and air. When properly proportioned and applied, it expands to create a cohesive barrier that floats on top of burning liquids. There are several types of fire foam, including protein-based, fluoroprotein, aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF), and alcohol-resistant concentrates, each with specific applications and performance characteristics.

Fire foam can be deployed through various methods including fixed systems, portable extinguishers, and manual application using hoses. Proper training is essential for effective and safe use, as improper application can reduce effectiveness or create additional hazards. Environmental considerations have led to the development of biodegradable foam concentrates that minimize ecological impact while maintaining firefighting capabilities.
