The name Lastmiledelen combines elements from Old Norse and the regional dialect, commonly interpreted as “the last mile of the harbor path.” The etymology reflects the district’s traditional role as the final leg of maritime supply routes entering Brælen’s port complex.

Geography and climate: Lastmiledelen lies on a crescent-shaped bay with a deep-water quay. The area experiences a temperate maritime climate, with cool summers and mild, wet winters. The harbor is protected by breakwaters and remains active throughout the year, even when facing strong westerly winds.

History: The district began as a small fishing hamlet in the 12th century and grew with the maritime trade routes serving Brælen.
