Lastbalancierung, also known as final settlement or final balancing, is a process in financial and accounting systems that ensures all transactions, payments, and adjustments are accurately recorded and settled at the end of a reporting period. This procedure is particularly important in trade finance, banking, and electronic data interchange (EDI) to prevent discrepancies between buyer and seller accounts.

In trade finance, last balancing occurs when the final payment for goods or services is processed after all invoices, credit notes, and discounts have been accounted for. It involves comparing the total amount due against the actual payments received, adjusting for any remaining balances, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms. This step is critical to avoid disputes and maintain transparency in cross-border transactions.
