Labiili

Labiili is a constructed language designed for the fictional world of Labiil. It originated as a collaborative project among language enthusiasts and worldbuilders in the early 2010s and has since developed a stable grammar, vocabulary, and learning resources. The language is used across fan fiction, role‑playing communities, and worldbuilding guides, serving as a linguistic framework for dialog, lore, and culture within the imagined setting.

Labiili is a synthetic, agglutinative language with a subject–object–verb (SOV) word order. Nouns carry a case system that marks functions such as subject, object, and indirect relationships, while verbs employ a rich set of affixes to express tense, aspect, mood, voice, and evidentiality. The pronoun inventory includes inclusive and exclusive distinctions in the first person plural, and verb forms reflect information source and speaker attitude. Basic sentence structure tends toward a simple periphery of modifiers, with adjectives following nouns and numerals preceding nouns.

Phonologically, Labiili features a modest consonant inventory and six vowel qualities. Stress is typically on the penultimate syllable, and vowel harmony influences certain suffix vowels in longer forms. The primary writing system is a Latin-based alphabet with diacritics to indicate vowel quality and certain phonetic distinctions; a ceremonial syllabary, used in lore and artifacts, provides an alternative script within in-world texts.

Resources for learners include a grammar reference, a beginner’s dictionary, and example dialogues, many contributed by the community. There are also audio recordings and learning decks that illustrate pronunciation and sentence patterns. Although not an official language, Labiili functions as a cohesive linguistic system for its fictional universe and related creative works.
