Laavakäytävien

Laavakäytävien, which translates to "lava tubes" in Finnish, refers to natural underground channels formed by flowing lava. These geological formations are created when the surface of a lava flow cools and solidifies, while the molten rock beneath continues to flow. Eventually, the lava drains out, leaving behind a hollow tunnel. Laavakäytävien are a significant feature in volcanically active regions around the world, including Iceland, Hawaii, and parts of the Pacific Northwest.

The formation process of laavakäytävien is crucial for understanding their structure. As lava erupts and flows, its outer layer insulates the interior, allowing the molten rock to remain liquid for longer.
