L2Fn

L2Fn is a subunit of the Polish Air Force, which provides a specialized air defense service. It was established in 1967, and its main task is to escort and provide air defense for Polish aircraft during certain military and joint international operations.

L2Fn operates a variety of Russian-designed MiG-23 fighters, which have been upgraded to modernize their avionics and performance. They are then stationed at various bases in Poland, including in Morag, Swidwin, and Mirosławiec. The unit is affiliated with the 22nd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Polish Air Force's Operational Aviation Component.

The primary goal of L2Fn is to protect Polish air space and prevent incursions by foreign aircraft. They accomplish this through patrolling high alert zones along the borders of Poland. Additionally, L2Fn has participated in international military exercises, such as NATINet and Steadfast Defender, with member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). They take part in armed escort missions for NATO member states' aircraft participating in their Saigon Way overflights trainings.
