Käsipesussa is a Swedish term that translates to "hand wash" or "washing by hand." It refers to the process of cleaning items, typically clothing or delicate fabrics, using only water and detergent without the aid of a washing machine. This method is often recommended for garments made from materials that are too fragile for machine washing, such as silk, wool, lace, or items with intricate embellishments.

The process of käsipesussa generally involves filling a basin or sink with cool or lukewarm water, adding a small amount of mild detergent, and then gently submerging the item. The fabric is swished around in the soapy water, and any soiled areas are carefully rubbed or scrubbed with gentle pressure. Soaking for a short period may also be part of the process.
