Käsinpesuohjeet refer to instructions for washing items by hand, typically clothing or delicate fabrics. These instructions are provided to ensure that garments are cleaned effectively without causing damage to the material.

The process usually begins with checking the garment's care label for specific recommendations. Water temperature is a key factor; cold or lukewarm water is generally preferred for most hand-washable items to prevent shrinkage or color bleeding. Hot water can be too harsh for delicate fibers.

Next, a mild detergent is recommended. Harsh chemicals or bleach should be avoided as they can weaken or discolor fabrics. A small amount of detergent is usually sufficient. The item is then submerged in the water and gently agitated. Scrubbing or wringing should be done with care, especially on delicate materials like silk or lace, to avoid stretching or tearing.

After washing, the garment needs to be rinsed thoroughly to remove all soap residue. This is typically done by draining the soapy water and refilling the basin with clean water, repeating the process until the water runs clear. Squeezing out excess water gently, without twisting, is important.

Finally, the item should be dried according to the care label instructions. Many hand-washable items are best air-dried, either by laying them flat on a towel to absorb moisture or by hanging them on a clothesline away from direct sunlight, which can fade colors. Proper hand-washing preserves the longevity and appearance of clothing.
