Kvantumelméletek refers to the fundamental theories in physics that describe nature at the smallest scales of energy and matter. These theories, collectively known as quantum mechanics, revolutionized our understanding of the universe, replacing classical physics in domains where phenomena like atomic and subatomic behavior are dominant. Key concepts include quantization, where energy, momentum, and other properties exist in discrete packets or quanta. This is famously illustrated by Planck's discovery concerning black-body radiation.

Another central tenet is wave-particle duality, which states that particles like electrons and photons can exhibit both wave-like and particle-like properties. The probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics is also crucial; instead of predicting exact outcomes, it provides probabilities for different results. This is encapsulated by the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which limits the precision with which certain pairs of physical properties, such as position and momentum, can be known simultaneously.

The mathematical framework of quantum mechanics is sophisticated, often employing Hilbert spaces and operators. Prominent formulations include Schrödinger's wave mechanics and Heisenberg's matrix mechanics, which were later shown to be equivalent. Quantum field theory (QFT) extends these principles to describe elementary particles and their interactions as excitations of underlying quantum fields. QFT is the foundation for the Standard Model of particle physics, which successfully describes the electromagnetic, weak, and strong nuclear forces. Despite its immense success, unifying quantum mechanics with general relativity, the theory of gravity, remains a major challenge in theoretical physics, leading to ongoing research in areas like string theory and loop quantum gravity.
