Kraftstoffzuführung

Kraftstoffzuführung refers to the system responsible for delivering fuel from the storage tank to the engine in a motor vehicle or other combustion engine. This process is critical for the engine's operation, as it ensures a consistent and controlled supply of fuel for combustion.

The typical kraftstoffzuführung system begins with the fuel tank, which stores the gasoline or diesel. From the tank, fuel is drawn by a fuel pump, which pressurizes the fuel and pushes it through a fuel line. Along this path, a fuel filter is usually present to remove any impurities that could clog fuel injectors or damage engine components.

Modern vehicles often employ electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems. In an EFI system, sensors monitor various engine parameters, such as air intake, engine temperature, and throttle position. This data is sent to an electronic control unit (ECU), which precisely controls the amount of fuel injected into the engine cylinders. This precision leads to improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to older carburetor systems.

In simpler or older engines, carburetors were used. A carburetor mixes air and fuel in a specific ratio before it enters the engine. While less precise than EFI, carburetors were a common and effective method of fuel delivery for many years.

The entire kraftstoffzuführung system is designed to maintain adequate fuel pressure and flow rates to match the engine's demands under varying operating conditions, from idling to full acceleration. Issues within this system can result in poor engine performance, stalling, or failure to start.
