Koostumuksellista

Koostumuksellista is a Finnish adjective form meaning “compositional” or “relating to composition.” It is used to describe properties or analyses that arise from the way parts combine to form a whole. The term is common in academic contexts, particularly in linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive science, and computer science, where it denotes the principle of compositionality: the meaning or behavior of a complex expression or system is determined by the meanings of its components and the rules used to combine them.

In linguistics and semantics, koostumuksellisuus or the notion described as “koostumuksellista” refers to the compositional semantics principle: the semantic value of a sentence is computed from the semantic values of its parts and the syntactic structure.
