Komnenoi
The Komnenoi (Greek: Κομνηνοί) were a prominent Byzantine noble family that rose to prominence in the 11th century and ruled the Byzantine Empire from 1081 to 1185. Their rise began with the marriage of Anna Dalassene, a member of the Dalassene family, to Romanos IV Diogenes, who became emperor in 1068. Their son, Alexios I Komnenos, seized power in 1081 after a period of civil strife and founded the Komnenian dynasty.
