Kokonaisvapausaste

Kokonaisvapausaste, often translated as total degree of freedom, is a concept in physics and engineering that refers to the minimum number of independent coordinates required to completely specify the position and orientation of a system in space. For a single rigid body in three-dimensional space, the kokonaisvapausaste is six. These six degrees of freedom can be broken down into three translational degrees of freedom, corresponding to movement along the x, y, and z axes, and three rotational degrees of freedom, corresponding to rotation about the x, y, and z axes.
