Koerdisch
Koerdisch, in Dutch-language contexts, refers to the Kurdish language. Kurdish is an Iranian language spoken by Kurds in the region historically known as Kurdistan, spanning parts of southeastern Turkey, northern Iraq, western Iran, and northern Syria, with communities in the Caucasus, Armenia, and a large diaspora in Europe and the Americas. The language consists of several dialect groups; the two largest are Kurmanji (Northern Kurdish) and Sorani (Central Kurdish). Southern Kurdish and Zazaki are closely related varieties; Zazaki is often treated as a separate language. Dialects differ in phonology, vocabulary, and grammar, while standard varieties are used in education and media in some areas.
