Klónozáson, also known as cloning, refers to the process of creating an exact genetic copy of an organism, cell, or molecule. This technique leverages biological methods to produce organisms or cells with identical DNA sequences to a parent organism. Cloning can occur naturally, such as in asexual reproduction in plants or certain animals, or it can be artificially induced through laboratory techniques.

The most common form of cloning in research and biotechnology is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), where the nucleus of a somatic (body) cell is transferred into an enucleated egg cell. This process was famously used to produce Dolly the sheep in 1996, the first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell. Another method is reproductive cloning, which aims to create a genetically identical organism, while therapeutic cloning focuses on producing embryonic stem cells for medical research or treatment.

Ethical, legal, and safety concerns surround cloning due to potential risks such as genetic abnormalities, unintended consequences in ecosystems, and ethical dilemmas regarding human cloning. Some countries have implemented strict regulations or outright bans on human reproductive cloning, while others allow it under controlled conditions for research purposes.

In agriculture and conservation, cloning has practical applications, including the preservation of endangered species, the production of genetically uniform livestock, and the development of disease-resistant crops. Additionally, cloning plays a role in medical research, such as generating stem cells for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Despite its potential benefits, ongoing scientific and ethical debates continue to shape the development and regulation of cloning technologies.
