KitaUnfall is a term used in German-speaking contexts to describe an accident that occurs within a Kita (Kindertagesstätte, or daycare center) or during activities organized by a Kita. The term covers injuries to children as well as incidents involving staff or volunteers associated with the facility. Incidents can range from minor injuries such as cuts or bruises to more serious events requiring medical treatment, as well as near-misses that did not result in harm but revealed safety gaps.

Common causes of KitaUnfall include slips and trips, falls from furniture or playground equipment, burns from hot liquids or surfaces, choking during meals, and injuries from toys or play structures. In addition, inadequate supervision, crowded conditions, or poorly maintained facilities can contribute to the risk of accidents. Prevention emphasizes age-appropriate supervision, safe play environments, and proper handling of foods and equipment.

In Germany, accidents occurring in Kita settings are addressed within the framework of the statutory accident insurance system (Unfallversicherung). Kita providers, as employers or institutions, are responsible for basic safety measures and for reporting significant incidents to the relevant insurance carrier.
