Kippschalter

A Kippschalter, also known as a toggle switch, is a type of electrical switch that is operated by a lever or rocker. The lever can be moved between two or more positions, typically "on" and "off," to control the flow of electricity to a circuit. Kippschalter are commonly found in a wide variety of applications, including household appliances, industrial equipment, and automotive systems.

The basic design of a Kippschalter consists of a movable contact that is connected to the lever. When the lever is moved to one position, the contact closes the circuit, allowing electricity to flow. When the lever is moved to the other position, the contact opens the circuit, interrupting the flow of electricity. Some Kippschalter have more than two positions, allowing for multiple circuit configurations or states.

Kippschalter are valued for their simplicity, durability, and ease of operation. They provide a tactile and visual indication of the switch's state, making them intuitive to use. The lever can be designed in various shapes and sizes, and some may include protective boots or guards to prevent accidental activation or to offer environmental sealing. The act of flipping the switch is often referred to as "kippen" in German, which translates to "to tip" or "to tilt," hence the name Kippschalter.
