Kilökés

Kilökés is a Hungarian term used in sports language to describe a pushing or clearing action aimed at removing an opponent from the ball’s path or to clear the ball from a dangerous situation. The move is typically performed with the foot or leg, but may involve the body, and is usually intended to regain possession or protect the ball.

In association football, kilökés commonly refers to a defender clearing the ball from inside the penalty area or near the goal line. The action can be a legal clearance if it is controlled and does not endanger another player. When contact with an opponent is reckless or dangerous, it is judged as a foul, potentially resulting in a direct free kick or penalty, and sanctions such as a yellow or red card.

In other sports, similar contact-based clearance or obstruction actions exist and are governed by sport-specific rules about permissible contact and safety. The term kilökés remains informal and is primarily used in Hungarian-language reporting and analysis.

Etymology: from ki- meaning out and lökés from lök "to push".
