Ketonipitoisuudet are measurements of ketone bodies present in the body, typically assessed through blood, urine, or breath tests. Ketone bodies are produced in the liver during periods of low carbohydrate availability, such as fasting, prolonged exercise, or carbohydrate-restricted diets. The primary ketone bodies include acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, and acetone.

Monitoring ketonipitoisuudet is important in diagnosing and managing metabolic conditions such as ketoacidosis, particularly diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). In nutritional ketosis, levels generally range from 0.5 to 3.0 mmol/L, whereas higher concentrations may signify ketoacidosis.
