Kerrosmateriaalien, a Finnish term, translates to layered materials or composite materials in English. This broad category encompasses materials constructed from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties that remain separate and distinct at the macroscopic or microscopic level within the finished structure. The purpose of creating a layered material is typically to achieve properties that are superior to those of the individual components.
