Kehydell

Kehydell is a port city and the administrative center of the coastal province of Lyrath in the fictional realm of Eldoria. It lies on the northern shore of the Shalimar Sea at the mouth of the Vyrn River, with a natural harbor protected by stone breakwaters. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and relatively cool, wet summers.

Founded in the 9th century by seafaring guilds, Kehydell developed as a trading hub linking inland markets with overseas routes. It passed through the control of regional lordships before becoming the provincial capital. Today the city is governed by a mayor and city council, with a separate port authority that oversees maritime operations. The population is estimated at around 110,000, and the city hosts diverse communities including long-standing fishing families and commercial districts.

The economy centers on maritime activities and logistics. The harbor handles domestic and international cargo, while shipbuilding, fish processing, and wholesale markets provide employment. Kehydell is connected by rail to Northgate and by regular ferries to nearby settlements.

Culturally, Kehydell preserves a historic core in the Old Town, where narrow lanes converge on the Clocktower and the Glass Market. The University of Kehydell, established in the 18th century, offers programs in law, commerce, and engineering. The annual Harbor Festival celebrates the city’s nautical heritage and trade traditions.
