These tumors often grow rapidly and lack a well-defined capsule. Their cells are typically abnormal in appearance and function. Malignant tumors are further classified based on the type of tissue from which they arise. Carcinomas originate from epithelial cells (which line organs and skin), sarcomas arise from connective tissues (like bone, cartilage, and muscle), leukemias originate from blood-forming tissues, and lymphomas originate from lymphatic tissues. The specific type of malignant tumor determines the treatment strategies and the overall outlook for the patient. Precise diagnosis of the kasvajatüübi is achieved through microscopic examination of tissue samples, a process called histopathology.
