Kaiserreich
Kaiserreich, meaning “Empire of the Emperor” in German, is a historical term most often used to refer to the Deutsches Kaiserreich, the German Empire established after the unification of Germany in 1871 and lasting until the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1918. The empire was proclaimed in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles on 18 January 1871, after a series of wars that unified the German states under Prussian leadership. It combined Prussia with numerous other German states under a constitutional framework designed to balance the powers of the monarchy and parliament.
