Jõudmises

Jõudmises is an Estonian term used in political and social contexts to denote the state or condition of possessing and exercising power within a system. It is commonly employed to describe who holds authority at a given moment, how that power is exercised, and the dynamics that sustain or challenge it. In everyday language, the phrase can appear in constructions such as “oleme jõudmises” (we are in power) or in analytic discussions about transitions of power.

Linguistically, jõudmises is formed from the root jõud, meaning power or force, with the nominalizing suffix -mine to indicate the act or state, and the inflectional ending -s that marks a particular grammatical form in Estonian. The form is used in various grammatical contexts to refer to the state of holding power rather than the act of acquiring power itself, though in discourse the boundaries between these senses can blur.

In political science and public discourse, the concept is employed to analyze how power is obtained, maintained, and contested.
