Jättää

Jättää is a Finnish verb with several related meanings centered on the idea of leaving something behind. The core senses include physically leaving an object somewhere, abandoning or deserting a person or plan, and omitting or excluding something (as in the phrase jättäa pois). It can also mean bequeathing property or money in a will (jättää perinnöksi). The versatility of jättää makes it one of the most common and productive verbs in everyday Finnish.
