Järnintaget refers to the process of consuming and absorbing iron, an essential mineral for the human body. Iron plays a crucial role in the formation of hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. The amount of iron a person needs varies based on age, sex, and physiological status. Infants, children, adolescents, pregnant women, and menstruating women generally require higher iron intakes due to increased demands for growth, development, and blood loss.
