Juzgo

Juzgo is a municipality in the province of Soria, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. Located in the La Rioja region, Juzgo shares a border with the municipalities of Glozo and Galve.

The municipality covers a total area of 45.38 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 121 residents, as per the 2020 census. Juzgo is part of the comarca (a term used in Castile and León for administrative divisions) of La Rioja. The official language is Spanish, with a variant of the local dialect being commonly spoken.

The area surrounding Juzgo has been inhabited since ancient times, with archaeological excavations revealing evidence of human presence dating back to the Neolithic era. The Roman Empire also had a presence in the region, and several findings have confirmed the existence of Roman settlements.

Economically, Juzgo's main activity is agriculture, with the primary crops being cereals and legumes. The local economy also benefits from livestock farming and tourism. Juzgo's natural environment is characterized by a predominantly low-lying terrain, with gentle slopes and a strong presence of oaks and pine trees.

Notably, Juzgo does not have a significant town or village interior close to the edge of the town, due to its small population. While lacking extensive infrastructure, the municipality retains a distinct cultural identity.

Demographical changes are often minimal due to Juzgo's size. The local infrastructure includes basic services such as a post office, a meeting room, a public bus service and an all-purpose village store / pub. Relatively scarce are formal economy generating occupations available within the local area. However, residents still hold a strong connection to the area and community.
