León

León is a city in northwestern Spain, the capital of the province of León within the autonomous community of Castile and León. It sits along the Bernesga River and is a historic stop on the Camino de Santiago. With a population of around 125,000, it serves as a regional administrative, educational, and cultural center.

León has ancient roots with Roman and medieval heritage. In the Middle Ages it was the capital of the Kingdom of León, a political and cultural power that shaped northern Spain.
