Juotuksessa is a Finnish term referring to the act of soldering, a process used to join different metal pieces together by melting and putting a filler metal (solder) into the joint. The filler metal, which has a lower melting point than the adjoining metal, is heated, typically with a soldering iron, until it melts and flows into the gap between the pieces. Once cooled, the filler metal solidifies, creating a strong electrical or mechanical bond between the pieces.

This technique is widely employed in electronics for connecting components to printed circuit boards, as well as in plumbing for joining pipes, and in metalworking for creating decorative or functional items. The quality of a solder joint depends on factors such as the cleanliness of the surfaces being joined, the correct temperature of the soldering iron, and the appropriate type of solder and flux used. Flux is a chemical cleaning agent that removes oxidation from the metal surfaces, allowing the solder to wet and bond properly. Different types of solder exist, often alloys of tin and lead, though lead-free alternatives are increasingly common due to environmental and health concerns. Proper soldering requires skill and practice to achieve reliable and durable connections.
