Junho

Junho is the sixth month of the Gregorian calendar, following May and preceding July. It has 30 days. The name "June" is believed to come from the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter and goddess of marriage and childbirth. Alternatively, it may be derived from the Latin word "iuior," meaning younger, referring to the younger Roman consuls.

In the Northern Hemisphere, June marks the beginning of astronomical summer, with the summer solstice typically occurring around June 20th or 21st. This is the longest day of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere, June is the beginning of astronomical winter, featuring the winter solstice.

Many cultures celebrate significant events and holidays in June. For instance, Father's Day is observed in many countries during this month, often on the third Sunday. Pride Month, a time dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ rights and culture, is also recognized throughout June. Midsummer celebrations are popular in Nordic countries, marking the height of summer. In the United States, Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery, is celebrated on June 19th. The month is also associated with graduations and the end of the academic year for many schools.
