Jizo
Jizo, also known as Kshitigarbha in Sanskrit, is a bodhisattva deeply revered in Mahayana Buddhism, particularly in Japan and East Asia. A bodhisattva is an enlightened being who delays their own nirvana to help others achieve enlightenment. Jizo is especially associated with compassion, mercy, and the protection of the weak, particularly children, travelers, and those suffering in the afterlife.
