Jalkapallolle

Jalkapallolle, commonly known as football in English, is a popular team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by maneuvering a spherical ball into the opponent's net. The sport is governed internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which organizes the most prestigious tournament, the FIFA World Cup, held every four years.

The game is played on a rectangular grass field, though artificial surfaces are also used. Players are not allowed to use their hands or arms, except for the goalkeeper within their penalty area. The game is divided into two halves of 45 minutes each, with additional stoppage time added at the discretion of the referee. The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins; if scores are tied, extra time or penalties may be used to determine the winner.

Jalkapallolle is widely played and followed globally, with national leagues and domestic cups forming the backbone of competitive football. Finland has its own professional league, the Veikkausliiga, which is the top tier of Finnish football. The national team, known as *Suomen jalkapallomaajoukkue*, competes in international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship.
