Jalgaon

Jalgaon is a city located in the Maharashtra state of India. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Jalgaon district. The city is situated in the northern part of Maharashtra, often referred to as the Khandesh region.

Historically, the area around Jalgaon has seen various rulers, including the Satavahanas, Guptas, and Chalukyas. It later became part of the Maratha Empire and subsequently British India. The city itself developed as a significant trading center.

Jalgaon is widely known as the "Banana City" of India due to its substantial production of bananas. Agriculture is a primary economic activity in the district, with cotton and sugarcane also being important crops. The city also has a presence of small-scale industries.
