JTFCS

JTFCS refers to Joint Task Force Civil Support. It is a United States Department of Defense joint military unit responsible for leading the response to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) incidents within the United States. JTFCS operates under the command of U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM).

The primary mission of JTFCS is to assist state, local, federal, and international partners in responding to catastrophic events, particularly those involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or high-yield explosive (CBRNE) threats. This includes providing specialized military capabilities and expertise that civilian agencies may not possess.

JTFCS is designed to be a rapidly deployable force. Its personnel and assets are trained and equipped to operate in complex and hazardous environments. The task force includes a range of military occupational specialties, such as medical, engineering, reconnaissance, and logistical support.

The unit works closely with agencies like the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
