Isuussääntö

Isuussääntö, also known as the Ice Hockey Rules, is the official rulebook governing the sport of ice hockey. It is maintained and updated by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and is used in international competitions and by national ice hockey associations worldwide. The rules cover various aspects of the game, including player equipment, rink dimensions, game structure, and penalties.

The standard ice hockey game consists of three 20-minute periods, with a 15-minute intermission between the first and second periods, and a 10-minute intermission between the second and third periods. If the score is tied at the end of regulation, an additional 20-minute period is played, known as overtime. If the score remains tied after overtime, the game may be decided by a shootout.

Each team is composed of six skaters and up to two goaltenders. Players are allowed to use various protective equipment, including a helmet, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and a mouthguard. The game is played on an ice rink with a goal at each end, and the objective is to score more goals than the opposing team by shooting a puck into the opponent's net.

Penalties are enforced for various infractions, such as boarding, charging, cross-checking, delay of game, elbowing, face-off violations, high-sticking, holding, hooking, interference, roughing, slashing, spearing, tripping, and unsportsmanlike conduct. Penalties result in a loss of players from the offending team on the ice, with the duration of the penalty depending on the severity of the infraction.

The isuussääntö is designed to promote fair play, safety, and the enjoyment of the game. It is regularly reviewed and updated by the IIHF to ensure that it remains relevant and effective in governing the sport of ice hockey.
