Isheemiatõve

Isheemiatõve, also known as ischemic disease or ischemia, is a medical condition characterized by a reduced blood supply to an organ or tissue. This reduction in blood flow, often caused by a blockage or narrowing of blood vessels, deprives the affected area of oxygen and nutrients essential for its survival. Without adequate blood supply, cells can become damaged or die, leading to impaired function of the organ or tissue.

The symptoms of isheemiatõve vary depending on the location and severity of the reduced blood flow. Common areas affected include the heart, brain, and limbs. In the heart, it can manifest as angina or a heart attack. Ischemia in the brain can lead to a stroke. In the limbs, it may cause claudication, a type of pain or cramping that occurs during physical activity.

Risk factors for developing isheemiatõve include atherosclerosis (the buildup of plaque in arteries), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle. Genetics and age also play a role.

Diagnosis typically involves a physical examination, medical history, and various diagnostic tests such as angiography, ultrasound, or MRI to visualize blood flow and identify blockages. Treatment aims to restore blood flow, manage underlying risk factors, and prevent complications. This may include medications, lifestyle changes, or surgical procedures like angioplasty or bypass surgery. Early detection and intervention are crucial for improving outcomes and preventing long-term damage.
