Intacct

Intacct, currently marketed as Sage Intacct, is a cloud-based financial management and accounting software platform designed for mid-market organizations. It offers core financials such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and purchasing, along with modules for order management, revenue recognition, and project accounting. The system emphasizes multi-entity and multi-currency operations and provides flexible reporting through dimensions and dashboards.

The product originated as an independent software company founded in 1999 in San Jose, California. In 2017, The Sage Group acquired Intacct for about $850 million, and the product has since operated as part of Sage’s cloud portfolio, where it is marketed as Sage Intacct. The acquisition positioned Intacct within Sage’s broader enterprise resource planning and cloud offerings.

Key capabilities include flexible project accounting, time and expense management, grant and fund accounting for nonprofits, and sophisticated revenue management that supports ASC 606 and IFRS 15. It provides automation features, workflow approvals, audit trails, role-based access, and API-based integrations with other enterprise applications, including customer relationship management and payroll systems. Multi-entity consolidation and intercompany processes are supported, with localization options for international deployments.

Sage Intacct competes with other cloud financial suites such as NetSuite and Oracle ERP Cloud. It is commonly used by professional services firms, software and technology companies, real estate, healthcare providers, and nonprofits, and is delivered as software-as-a-service with ongoing updates and subscription pricing.
