Instrumentinnflyging, also known as instrument flight, refers to the practice of navigating and controlling an aircraft using instruments rather than visual references outside the cockpit. This method is essential for flying in conditions where visibility is limited, such as during nighttime, in clouds, or in adverse weather. Instrument flight is governed by specific regulations and procedures to ensure safety, particularly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), which require pilots to rely solely on onboard instruments and air traffic control guidance.

The primary instruments used in instrument flight include the airspeed indicator, altimeter, attitude indicator, heading indicator, turn-and-slip indicator, and vertical speed indicator. These tools provide critical data on the aircraft’s speed, altitude, orientation, and movement, allowing pilots to maintain control and follow flight paths accurately.
