Institutionalisoituja is a Finnish term that translates to "institutionalized" in English. It describes the process by which individuals or groups become accustomed to or dependent on an institution, often to the point where their behavior, thinking, and identity are shaped by the norms and structures of that institution. This can occur in various settings, such as prisons, mental health facilities, schools, or even large corporations.

The process of institutionalization often involves a loss of individuality and autonomy. Individuals may begin to adopt the routines, expectations, and even the language of the institution, sometimes at the expense of their pre-existing personal habits and beliefs.
