Nebulizers turn liquid medication into a fine mist that can be inhaled over several minutes through a mouthpiece or a mask. They are particularly useful for young children, the elderly, or individuals who have difficulty using MDI or DPI devices.

Choosing the right inhaler type depends on factors such as the patient's age, ability to use the device correctly, the specific medication, and the severity of the respiratory condition.
