Infrastrukturansvarlig

Infrastrukturansvarlig refers to the person responsible for the design, delivery and operation of an organization's infrastructure, ensuring that it is reliable, scalable and aligned with business goals. The term is used in Norwegian and Swedish contexts and is often translated as infrastructure manager or infrastructure lead.

In a corporate setting, the focus is typically IT infrastructure—networks, servers, storage, data centers, cloud resources, and cybersecurity—while also involving facilities-related elements such as power, cooling and physical security. The role may also coordinate with external utility providers and service providers.

Key responsibilities include developing infrastructure strategy and roadmaps, capacity planning, incident and problem management, change management, disaster recovery and business continuity, vendor and contract management, budgeting, and governance. The infrastrukturanansvarlig ensures compliance with standards and security requirements and monitors performance.

Required skills typically include strong knowledge of networks and systems administration, cloud platforms, security practices, and IT service management (ITIL). Project management, vendor evaluation, and effective communication with stakeholders are important. A relevant degree and certifications (for example ITIL, CCNA/CCNP, or cloud certifications) are common.

Organizationally, the role may report to a CIO or CTO, or to a facilities director, depending on the organization. In larger enterprises it is a distinct function; in smaller organizations it may be combined with other operations roles. A typical career path moves from engineer roles toward leadership.
