Infrarozeni

Infrarozeni, often referred to as infrared radiation, is a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light and shorter than microwaves. It occupies a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum between approximately 700 nanometers and 1 millimeter. The term "infrared" literally means "below red," referencing its position in the spectrum relative to the color red, which has the longest wavelength in the visible light range.

This form of radiation is primarily associated with heat. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero emit infrared radiation. The hotter an object, the more infrared radiation it emits and the shorter its peak wavelength. This property makes infrared radiation useful for detecting temperature, a principle employed in thermal imaging cameras and pyrometers.

Infrared radiation has a wide range of applications. In astronomy, it is used to study distant objects that are too cool to emit visible light, such as planets and interstellar dust clouds. In telecommunications, infrared is used in remote controls for televisions and other electronic devices, as well as in some short-range wireless communication systems. It also plays a role in spectroscopy, medical imaging, and industrial heating processes. The human body perceives infrared radiation as heat.
