Induktionsförsegling

Induktionsförsegling, also known as induction sealing or cap sealing, is a process used to create a hermetic seal on containers. This method is widely employed in the packaging industry, particularly for food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and chemical products, to ensure product integrity and prevent leakage or contamination. The process utilizes electromagnetic induction to heat a foil liner within the container's cap, causing it to fuse with the container's rim.

The induction sealing system typically consists of an induction sealer machine, a cap with an inner foil liner, and the container itself. The foil liner is usually composed of multiple layers, including a pulp or paperboard backing, a layer of aluminum foil, and a heat-seal coating. When the sealed container passes beneath the induction sealer's coil, an alternating electric current flows through the coil, generating a fluctuating magnetic field. This magnetic field induces eddy currents within the aluminum foil layer of the liner.

The resistance of the aluminum foil to these induced eddy currents causes it to heat up rapidly. As the foil reaches its melting point, the heat-seal coating on its underside melts and flows, bonding securely to the rim of the container. Upon cooling, this creates a tamper-evident and leak-proof seal. The induction sealing process is non-contact and operates at high speeds, making it an efficient method for large-scale production. It is a clean process, as it does not introduce any direct heat to the product itself and requires no adhesives.
