Induktanci

Induktanci is a term that may appear in some Polish-language texts as a plural form related to devices that create or utilize magnetic induction in circuits. In modern technical Polish, the standard term for the component is induktor, and the noun for the property is inductancja. Therefore, induktanci is not widely used in current practice and can be considered nonstandard or historical in many contexts.

In electronics, an inductor is a passive two-terminal component consisting of a coil of conductor that stores energy in its magnetic field when current flows through it. The inductance, L, is measured in henries and quantifies the component’s ability to oppose changes in current: v = L di/dt. In alternating current (AC) applications, the impedance is Z = jωL, and the energy stored in the magnetic field is E = 1/2 L I^2. Inductors can exhibit nonidealities such as parasitic capacitance, resistance, core losses, and saturation.

Common types include air-core inductors (no magnetic core), iron-core inductors, ferrite-core inductors, and toroidal inductors. They can be fixed or variable (adjustable inductors) and are chosen based on factors such as inductance value, size, efficiency, and operating frequency.

Applications span filtering and energy storage in power supplies, tuning and impedance matching in radio frequency circuits, and signal conditioning in various electronic systems. Inductors often appear in combination with capacitors to form resonant or filter networks, and they are a component in transformer designs through mutual inductance.
