Imagemaker is a term used to describe a person or a software tool involved in creating visual images for communication. The concept centers on shaping imagery to convey information, mood, or brand identity.

In practice, imagemakers work across media and industries, including advertising, publishing, web design, film, and education. Core activities include idea generation and concept development, composition and layout, color theory and typography decisions, image editing and retouching, illustration, and occasionally 3D rendering. They may produce logos, posters, product images, infographics, and digital illustrations, both from photographs and from scratch.

Increasingly, imagemakers incorporate artificial intelligence-based generation and automation to accelerate workflows. Professionals are expected to consider licensing, copyright, consent for subjects in images, and authenticity when using manipulated or generated imagery.
