Iltihaplanmas

Iltihaplanmas is the Turkish term for inflammation. It is a fundamental biological response of the body's immune system to harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. This process is characterized by a series of events designed to protect the body, remove the initial cause of cell injury, clear out necrotic cells and tissues damaged from the original insult and the acute response thereto, and to initiate tissue repair.

The classic signs of inflammation are redness (rubor), heat (calor), swelling (tumor), pain (dolor), and loss of function (functio laesa). These signs are a result of increased blood flow to the affected area, increased permeability of blood vessels allowing fluid and immune cells to leak into the tissue, and the activation of various immune cells that work to neutralize or eliminate the harmful agent.

Inflammation can be acute, which is a short-term response that resolves quickly, or chronic, which is a prolonged response that can lead to tissue damage and disease. Acute inflammation is crucial for healing and defense, while chronic inflammation is often associated with conditions like arthritis, asthma, and inflammatory bowel disease.
