Ikoneille

Ikoneille is a fictional archipelago created for fantasy literature and tabletop role-playing games. In the imagined world, it lies in a temperate sea to the south of the mainland and serves as a hub of maritime culture.

The archipelago comprises three main islands—Astraea, Caligo, and Mirren—as well as numerous islets. The climate ranges from mild, wet winters to warm, dry summers. The islands are linked by shallow channels and seasonal ferry routes.

Its inhabitants, collectively known as Ikoneillians, are seafaring people known for shipbuilding, navigation, and carved coral art. Their language, Ikoneillan, is a creole influenced by coastal traders.

The recorded history begins with early navigator clans, who established ports along Astraea's southern shore. Trade flourished with continental kingdoms and distant archipelagos. A civil epoch known as the Tide Wars reorganized governance and led to the formation of the Council of Tides.

The Council of Tides administers defense, customs, and inter-island diplomacy. Local autonomy is preserved by island councils. The economy centers on fishing, pearl diving, salt production, and shipbuilding.

Ikoneille appears in numerous works within the fantasy genre and in campaigns for role-playing games as a flexible sandbox setting. It is commonly used to explore themes of sovereignty, trade, and cultural exchange.
