Idealiseerimist is the Estonian term for idealisation, a psychological and philosophical concept describing the tendency to view objects, situations, or people in an overly favourable or simplified manner. It manifests through the creation of an idealized image that often ignores defects or complexities. In cognitive psychology, idealiseerimist is associated with cognitive biases such as the halo effect, wherein positive attributes of an entity lead to the assumption of other positive qualities. It plays a role in self-concept, where individuals may idealise their own future selves, and in social perception, influencing how we judge others.
