IVSA

The International Veterinary Students' Association (IVSA) is a global federation of national and regional student veterinary associations and recent graduates. It aims to promote professional development, mutual learning, and collaboration across borders to advance veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and public health.

IVSA traces its origins to international efforts by veterinary student groups in the 20th century and today functions as a worldwide network. Member organizations coordinate activities within their own countries and participate in IVSA-led events at regional and international levels.

Governance is typically based on a General Assembly, where delegates from member associations meet to set policy and elect leadership. A Council and an executive board handle ongoing administration, supported by volunteer committees that focus on education, events, communications, and partnerships. Membership is open to veterinary students and recent graduates affiliated with a member association, subject to local eligibility rules.

Key activities include regional and international congresses, virtual seminars, exchange programs, internships, and hands-on workshops. IVSA also develops educational resources, promotes research, and fosters the One Health approach by linking animal health with human and environmental health. Partnerships with veterinary schools, industry, and international organizations help expand opportunities for members.
