IMwith

Proponents describe IMwith as a federated, privacy-conscious messaging layer designed to enable cross-service communication without dictating user interfaces or backend architectures.

Core features include one-to-one and group messaging, presence, read receipts, and media/file transfer, along with extensible capabilities such as polls and threading. The architecture is envisioned as federated: clients connect to local servers that participate in a global routing network, with a standardized message envelope, negotiated capabilities, and end-to-end encryption for sensitive data.
